As this semester comes to an end, our club has elected the new 2017-2018 UT Fencing Club Officer Board as follows:
President: Alexandria Procell Vice-President: Jost Luebbe Treasurer: Avery Bennett Secretary: Alex Alario Social Officer: Craig Knisley Looking forward to a great year with our new officers! Congratulations to our fencers who competed in the USACFC 2017 National Championships at Michigan State earlier this month! As a result of their outstanding performance, UTFC placed fourth overall – the highest placement in our club’s history. In addition, our women’s epee team took first place, and both men’s sabre and men’s foil placed fourth in their respective events; among the individual events, Sean Li placed first in men’s sabre, and Grace Neveu and Sonya Tkachman placed third and seventh, respectively, in women’s epee. Once again, great job to all the fencers who competed!
Congratulations to Andrei Jaume and Michael Lincoln Cravey for placing 1st in foil and sabre at the 2017 Poujardieu Memorial Fencing Tournament at Texas State last weekend! Andrei placed 1st in the C & Under Mixed Foil event and 8th in the Mixed Foil event, earning an E rating in foil. Michael placed 1st in both the C & Under Mixed Sabre and Mixed Sabre events. Great job, fencers!
Welcome back, fencers! We're hitting the ground running this semester with our first practice tonight at 7:30pm in Belmont 302. Come out, brush up on your fencing, and make sure to join us for team dinner afterwards! Also, keep an eye out for announcements about our beginner's night, which will take place next Tuesday on the 24th, same time and place. See you there!

I hope you guys had a great summer and are ready to get back to fencing! As you know, school is starting and so is recruiting season. For returning members only, we have practice at the regular times starting on August 24th, the first day of school. Beginner nights will start on September 1st, next Thursday. Practices run from 7:30-10:30pm and will be located at Belmont (BEL) 302 inside the stadium. Hope to see everyone there! |
